About CJ
Born in Taipei during martial law, CJ immigrated to the US at 11 months old--so young that she couldn't even sit up on her own for her passport photo.
She grew up in Silicon Valley and studied mathematics at Santa Clara University, specifically to avoid writing.
After college, she had a whirlwind career in business and tech. During the pandemic, her psychiatrist said if she didn't do something, she would get involuntarily hospitalized. That was her wakeup call.
She is currently working on a debut memoir about escaping a Buddhist cult. Her Substack, Confessions of a Bad Daughter, is a weekly newsletter about the complicated love of people you can't stand, but are stuck with.
